Sugar Snap Peas

If you don’t drool over the idea of chubby sugar snap pea pods, so juicy and sweet they almost belong alongside jars of gobstoppers, pear drops and jelly babies, we think we’ll admit defeat, vegetables just aren’t for you! Protein rich, yet as easy to munch as ripe fruit, they’re like nature’s original pre/post gym snack but without weird additives and a plastic wrapper. They’ve got sugar in their name for a reason and we can’t think of many meals where they’d be unwelcome, whether steamed or blistered on a hot pan as an accompaniment or plopped into your pasta, risotto or brothy noodle affair to steam through (keep ‘em vibrant and crisp!). Yes you can acquire a styrofoam cradled, cling-filmed handful from somewhere you’d otherwise think of as a holiday destination, at any time of the year, but when the Barcombe ones are ready it’ll be worth the wait.
