The apples are dropping whilst we griddle the final French beans, the first squash are harvested alongside the last aubergines. Leeks wait in the wings, watching the tomatoes perform their swan song. It’s a unique spot in the farming calendar where two seasons overlap. We get to enjoy this collision and celebrate the last of an epic Summer.

September sees the start of a new campaign from the Soil Association to encourage people to try organic produce across the month. It's a celebration of sustainable living, with organic food at its heart. With the pack shed bursting with fruit, veg, spices, sauces, juices, as well as organic flowers, we're the perfect place to start.

Perhaps there's someone you know who might benefit from trying one of our veg boxes for Organic September? You could gift them one of our vouchers and get them started. Choose from 4 different box sizes and there's no obligation to sign up regularly. It's a great way to get family and friends to think about choosing organic - for their health, for wildlife and for the environment. Plus they'll taste the difference between locally grown, organic veg, picked at it's best and food grown thousands of miles away, harvested early and wrapped in plastic for Supermarket convenience.

Thank you to everyone who came down to our open day and Artwave weekend. We welcomed over 200 people on the Saturday, customers and art lovers alike! The sun shone and there was a real buzz on the farm with visitors trying their hand at clay work, basketry, painting with natural dyes and willow weaving. Our organic bouquets were snapped up, along with salad, squash and leafy greens, the cakes were gobbled and people lingered with tea and chat.

Thank you to the artists, the team and to you for making it all happen. It was a real celebration of art, community and veg! For more photos from the weekend look out for our September News on the website.

A lovely early Autumn dish, gnudi are little dumplings similar to gnocchi. Instead of potato, these are made with ricotta and semolina, making them light, fluffier and easier to make. We've added our finest roasted squash to the mix for a little sweetness, then fried in sage chilli butter and finished with a scattering of our salty curly kale.

We're delighted to be working with brilliant food charity Sustenance by making a regular monthly donation of our fruit, veg and anything good we have left over. With an emphasis on nutrition and environmental consciousness, Sustenance repurpose food surplus across Hastings and St Leonard's, providing food for those who need it. After the heatwaves and prolonged droughts across the UK and Europe, harvests have been drastically hit. With further price rises expected more people will be pushed into food poverty. Sustenance are trying to redress the balance locally and we're so pleased to be helping in some small way. If you'd like to know more about their work do visit their website and watch this space for future collaborations.
